This course for EQE 2025 is nearing its conclusion.
Looking ahead to EQE 2026, the next course will run from September/October 2025 to February 2026, with registration opening around February 2025. This course will be offered in a hybrid format, combining onsite introductory sessions in Utrecht, The Netherlands, with subsequent online sessions to provide a flexible and comprehensive learning experience.

- Paper A:
- Main legal background:
- claim categories and claim interpretation
- claim features – claiming by function or parameter
- clarity
- essential features for inventive step and enablement
- selection inventions
- Practicing the legal background with short cases
- Finding the invention: eliminating options, finding commonalities and essential features, determining effects
- Drafting the independent claim(s): finding the formulation for the claims
- Drafting dependent claims
- Drafting the introductory part of the description
- Practice the A 2017 exam paper
- Main legal background:
The following topics are covered
- Paper B:
- Main legal background for paper B: problem-solution approach, added subject-matter tests
- Dealing with the client’s letter and proposed claims
- Finding the desired claims
- Drafting the response to the EPO for paper B, focussing on arguing the basis for the amended claims and inventive step
- Practicing mock exams and cases
- Practice the B 2017 exam paper
Training material:
- Overhead sheets introducing and explaining the methodology on Paper A and Paper B
- The papers that will be practiced.
- A model solution and analysis of each paper.

- Early bird discount for full Main Exam preparation: € 520
Registration fee and VAT information
- An administrative fee of € 125 is charged for every booking. If more than one course is booked at the same time, only one administrative fee will be charged
- All fees are excluding 21% VAT
When to register?
This courses has limited participant slots. To ensure your place, we highly recommend registering as early as possible.
This course includes the shipment of physical materials to the meeting venue, please register at least 10 days in advance, provided that seats are still available. Late registrations may result in delayed delivery of course materials. Note that digital copies of the course materials will not be provided if there are delays in the physical shipment due to late registration.
